Pintastic Summer Week 6:  Counting Week

Welcome to Pin-Tastic Summer Week 5. If you’re just joining us, please click over to read the Pin-Tastic Summer intro post and then join us for some summer fun.

This week’s theme is:


We’ll spend the week doing tons of totally fun (and totally not-nerdy) math activities with our kids.  Here’s what’s on tap:


Here’s what we’re doing:

Monday:  Symmetrical Butterflies

Tuesday:  Lego Towers

Wednesday: 100’s Salad

Thursday:  The Sticky Play Dough Game

Friday:  Collect 25 Cents


Here’s your shopping list:

Monday:  Symmetrical Butterflies

  • construction paper (any color)
  • scissors
  • glue stick

Tuesday:  Lego Math Towers

  • Legos:  20+ pieces of any two colors (like 20 red legos, 20 blue legos), any size
  • A table or Lego building platform
  • Two plastic bowls (You don’t need to buy these, but you’ll need them)

Wednesday:  100’s Chopped Salad

  1. salad dressing
  2. 10 types (make sure you have 10!) of small, chopped veggies, meats, cheese for a salad.  Here are some suggestions:
  • carrots (cut into small rings)
  • celery
  • bacon
  • ham or turky
  • cheese chunks
  • peas
  • corn
  • black beans or pinto beans
  • mushrooms
  • bell peppers (cut into small chunks)
  • cherry or grape tomatoes
  • broccoli or cauliflower (cut into small chunks)
  • olives
  • shrimp
  • green onions
  • jicama chunks
  • almonds or pecans


  • a variety of small objects (ie. paper clips, cheerios, dry beans, Legos, beads, etc.)
  • play dough
  • a paper plate


  • A bunch of coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters)
